iStar is a registered California Nonprofit Public Benefit Organization, working to provide a superb learning environment in Chinese language and culture for the next generation of ethnic Chinese families and non-Chinese community members in Rocklin area. Letting our children in our community to have every advantage and opportunity to excel their potentials and to achieve a future success is our most priority goal.
iStar was founded in 2012 by a group of Chinese scholars from Mainland China, who are passionate in promoting the Chinese language and culture to western world. The program is designed for students who have no or very limited prior knowledge of Chinese language and may not be able to read Chinese alphabets or characters. The main objective of the course is to help students build a solid foundation of four basic skills – listening, speaking, reading and writing in an interactive and commutative learning environment. We currently offer:
- Programs for children (CSL1 – CSL4): aim to help students quickly build up long lasted interest in Chinese language learning. We teach standard Mandarin (Putonghua), modern Chinese phonetic system (Pinyin), and simplified Chinese characters using the official language system of Mainland China. The objective of these courses is to promote the Chinese language and culture and, to encourage a multicultural understanding in a global society.
- Programs for business and organizations (BC): designed for students and working professionals who have no prior exposure to Chinese, and are interested in conducting business or teaching English in China. The objective of this course is to build a solid foundation of basic Chinese in the business context, with a main focus on speaking and listening. Upon completion students are expected to be able to converse and interact with people in a variety of business settings.
- Private/small group lessons: One-on-one Mandarin lessons or small group Mandarin lessons to meet your needs.
